Case Study Assignment
The topic of the Case assignment is on the treatment of mental health issues in the prison setting. You will be asked to discuss how self determination theory can be useful in treating or teaching prisoners with mental health issues and also suggesting specific treatment ideas that may or may not depend on self-determination theory.
In the Case Assignment, you will write a 5-7 page research paper (excluding cover and reference pages). You must cite at least 6 resources from the class, the Touro library or your own research to support your arguments in the research paper. Your paper will address the following:
- Provide an introduction that lists the main points of your paper and describes how you will go about addressing the main issues in the assignment.
- Identify and explain reasons why there has been a significant rise in mental health issues in prison setting (This section should not be more than one page long)
- Based on your own research, elaborate some challenges of providing mental health care in prison settings
Based on previous assigned readings in this course and your own research, elaborate on how self-determination theory canbe useful in helping prisoners with mental health problems - Based on the assigned readings and videos in Modules 1-4 (and your own research) describe some methods and considerations of providing mental health care in prison settings (Note: these may or may not depend on selfdetermination theory)
- Provide a conclusion that summarizes the main points in your paper.You must use proper psychology terminology in this essay. Do not exceed 7 pages in this assignment, excluding title and references pages. The Case Assignment must be written in APA style format (ex.
double spaced with 1-inch margins and typed in 12-point Times New Roman).
Essays should be proofread for spelling and grammar mistakes.
